Hangover from a "Bilder einer Ausstellung"

D300 - 300 mm, 1/250 sec f/4.0, ISO 1250

The boundary between photography, painting and dream has seldom been as blurred as in the recent exhibition (Seravezza, Italy, April 4th - June 7th, 2009) by Anke Merzbach. I must say it was my first approach to her work and I found it rather disturbing. Her very personal approach to photography and her superb technique in processing images cannot go unnoticed. This picture here is a very personal remake of her style, based on my memories of the event.

  3. Terrific sense of the real mixed with the surreal. It captures the idea of a dream in a moment. Very well done!!

  4. Thanks Strawberry girl. If you happened to click on the artist's link I'm sure you would understand how peculiar could her exposition have been. This simple interpretation of mine is only an exercise, but thank you anyway for your kind words.

  5. Hello back Robin :-) nice to see you up and running again.
I saw the exposition with a couple of friends and there was quite a discussion on Merzbach's work. Surely it's not simply photography she's doing and her motives are not easy to grasp. I agree it's thought provoking, to say the least. I surely couldn't understand the complex symbolism in her pictures but her technique left me almost speechless. This is why I tried to (hopelessly) reproduce her style. It was simply an exercise to try and experiment with photography. This picture of mine is heavily postprocessed following the memories and flashes I remembered of her exposition.
What is photography then? how far can one go with image manipulation? is there anything "illicit"?

  8. Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite reason
appeared to be on the web the easiest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get irked while people think
about worries that they just don't know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

Is it only me or does it look like a few of the comments appear as if they are left by brain dead individuals? :-P And, if you are writing at additional online social sites, I would like to keep up with anything new you have to post.
