I need a rest
a pause.
From past mistakes
tangible ghosts,
and a feeble flame
is guiding me along
but I can't say
whether I'm going forward.

ReplyDeletedi una pausa.
Dai miei errori passati
fantasmi concreti,
ed un debole fuoco
cammina con me
ma no so dire
se sto andando avanti]
Complimenti...non so dire cosa sia piĆ¹ bello se la foto o le tue parole...che poi sono Poesie con la P maiuscola...
ReplyDeleteWhat if there is no need to go forward or backwards, just continue to move? Isn't direction subjective?
ReplyDeleteVery thought provoking....again. Thank you.
L.
Nice...very nice indeed. Oxygen flames the fire. Breathe...
ReplyDeleteI don't know sometimes which I like better - your photography or your poetry.
ReplyDeleteSpellbound here. As always.
@ amaramara: ehh... grazie grazie. Pensa che questa l'ho scritta ispirata anche dalle "nostre" ultime vicende. Quindi parte del merito va alle varie conversazioni che abbiamo avuto.
ReplyDelete@ linda: right. I guess the need for a direction is not really to say whether it's forward or backward but to pursue one. Frustration comes out of the "moving with zero average", that is one step forward, two backwards and one forward again. This is again a question of perception, one that we recently discussed together in NY (albeit from a different perspective).
@ judith: thank you Judith. A keen remark. I'm breathing but often too unconsciously. I should be more aware of it.
@ pooja: I'm glad you like both :-) They are not competing, or at least not meant to be. Your comment is inspiring another qestion I may write as a poll on the blog... maybe ...
y, very nice...
ReplyDeleteIt is the breath of life that ignities our passions and directs our paths. Breathe... Take in... Ah...
ReplyDeleteInhale. Exhale. This is necessary exchange, the road though unnamed. This is life.
ReplyDelete@ judith: ohhh.. you're breathing along with me.
ReplyDeleteHow cute and lively a comment, given the limited expression this means allow.
Now I feel freshened up.
See ya!
A.
maybe you're not! i like the openness of that thought...movement in the direction needed. & sometimes that movement is even stillness for a time. (thanks again for including your italian words...anch'io ho bisogno di riposo e una fiamma lo suscita.)
ReplyDeleteLife is a constant move. Can't measure it backward or forward.
ReplyDelete@ qualcosa di bello & gautami: Indeed directions can't probably be told, if ever defined at all. It is a category belonging to a linear state of mind, where dichotomy plays an important role.
ReplyDeleteLosing reference points has the interesting side effect of losing the notion of movement. So we say we move because we change the position with respect to a reference frame. Once we acknowledge the ephemeral nature of this frame, even the notion of movement looses its meaning.
thank you both for commenting.
A.
Ahhhh...
ReplyDelete@ catvibe: welcome back! It's nice to hear from you again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image and words~
ReplyDelete@ nao: welcome to my blog and thank you very much for your comment.
ReplyDeleteThis poetry is like eating a delicacy. Do you write these poems as well?
ReplyDelete@ kristin: thank you for your appreciation.
ReplyDeleteYes: pictures, text, poems and thoughts are my original work, unless otherwise stated.
I usually explicitly sign only the far&near posts as my contribution is given along that of other readers.
My poems are connected to the pictures, at the point I consider them as word-snapshots rather than poems.
Fire ignites. Meaning is descriptive. Breath is. Ah...
ReplyDeleteThe question seems not whether direction can be defined, but how we come to move this way or that. This too may be insignificant if we are forever guided by unfeigned reality, a collection of moments of the here and now. Truth exists even when direction is unknown.
ReplyDelete@ judith: you seem to be particularly attracted by the theme started here. I am thankful for this, and probably it would be one of those topics we could go on discussing for quite some time (with the help of a good bottle of wine) to discover in the end we're saying the same thing, with different words.
ReplyDeleteThe topic, -a-c-, is intriguing indeed and there is no doubt that we're saying the same thing with or without that bottle of wine, though to have it would be most enjoyable. I hope you're having a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteFire is always mesmerizing. You have caputred that quality.
ReplyDelete@ lisa: thank you. I must say though your abilities in capturing the essence of things is far greater than mine. Some of your paintings are alive.
