Aquamarine: body

D300 - 105 mm, 1/320 sec f/11, ISO 800

Amazing what one can do with some sugar crystals and a sheet of colored paper... (oh.. I forgot adding an expensive camera, an even more expensive lens, the aid of a better than average lighting, time, passion and - last but not least - a home made liquor whose sugar residues on the jar bottom can be seen in this picture).

  1. Cool! It looks like ice in a cool blue liquid. I like the blue. I also like the way the light reflects here. Sugar crystals?

  2. It's like the middle of an icy blue ocean. Very beautiful, and less dangerous. ;p

  3. Yes, sugar crystals. They formed while our home made peppermint liquor were aging during the first infusion in alcohol and sugar. As alcohol evaporated the sugar solution got concentrated more and more, growing those crystals. The color effect was given by filtering a light source through a blue colored paper from the back of the jar.

@ AMIT: hehe.. it may look bad but it tasted goooood! lol

  5. Yum! How much of that liquor did you have to drink before taking that picture?

  6. hehe.. the liquor is still intact. it needs time to reach the right ageing. These crystals are the leftover of the first infusion phase, which lasted for 40 days.
